Denver Broncos: 4 worst decisions in the 2020 offseason
1. Not making a move at left tackle
It wasn’t all that big of a deal for the Denver Broncos to not sign or draft any help at the left tackle position when it was a possibility the team could exercise its fifth-year team option on former first-round pick Garett Bolles.
When they decided to decline that fifth-year option, I think the team’s decision to do nothing at left tackle in the 2020 offseason turned into arguably its biggest mistake.
If Bolles plays well in 2020, the Broncos are going to be out more cash than they would have been otherwise. If they are not confident he’s going to play well, why not bring in a veteran upgrade?
It’s not always easy to find help at left tackle, but there are some players available this offseason including veteran Jason Peters who could have helped Denver.
At this point in the offseason, how much sense does it make to try and bring someone in at left tackle?
The Broncos are seemingly banking on one of Bolles or Elijah Wilkinson seizing the job and taking a wait-and-see approach with both guys.
Given the fact that this team is 100 percent on board with young Drew Lock at quarterback, their apparent lack of confidence in Garett Bolles combined with the fact that they did nothing to upgrade the position this offseason could wind up being their biggest whiff.
