DE: Rulon Jones

There are probably some other candidates also worthy of this spot, but Rulon Jones took the nod. Jones racked up 73.5 sacks in his nine-year career with the Broncos. He played on the right side of the defensive line for the team. Jones appeared in two Pro Bowls and received one All-Pro selection. T

he Broncos traded Lyle Alzado to Cleveland and the draft pick they used to replace Alzado became Jones.

Jones was a part of multiple playoffs and Super Bowl appearances. He was a strong staple on an “Orange Crush” defense that had Karl Mecklenberg and Randy Gradishar. Both Mecklenberg and Gradishar received all the hype but Jones cleaned up the garbage a lot, getting sacks and pressures on quarterbacks. He was a menace when wreaking havoc for opposing offenses.

The 11.0 sacks as a rookie by Jones was a long-standing mark until it was broken by Von Miller in 2011. Pro Football Reference does not list the total sacks in 1980 and 1981. Jones’ 73.5 sacks place him fourth all-time in Broncos history.
