The Broncos were hurting at wide receiver entering the offseason and that position was seen by most as the biggest weakness on the team. The team chose not to address that position in free agency but went at it hard in the drafted, choosing Jerry Jeudy in the first round and K.J. Hamler in the second.

With Courtland Sutton blossoming into one of the league’s best young receivers, the Broncos have a trio of receivers that can all be a threat to an opposing defense.

But where does that leave DaeSean Hamilton, a player just two years removed from being a fourth-round pick?

Hamilton hasn’t been terrible, but he does have much to prove in year three with the team. He will likely make the roster, but he’s a No. 4 or No. 5 guy on the depth chart at best.

He has just 58 receptions in his career and though each season has ended with promise during the first two years of his career, he has been far too inconsistent. That must change in year three.

Behind the names mentioned above, his opportunities will likely be limited. But when his number is called, he must make the most of it.

If he is in the game during a particular set, he must make a play if the ball comes his way. If on of the top three guys is banged up and forced to miss time, Hamilton must fill those shoes. He can’t be a guy that just disappears on the field.

It’s unfair to label Hamilton a “bust” at this point, but there is some concern over what role he deserves to have on this particular team. Because of the high draft picks used at the position he plays, there will be little room for error for Hamilton this season.
