The signing of AJ Bouye begged the question of who will be the next corner Denver looks to or if they do it at all. In the NFL Draft, Denver did decide to bolster their secondary more with the addition of Michael Ojemudia.

As the old adage goes, you can never have too many cornerbacks. Ojemudia comes to a group that was then but still contributed at a high level under Vic Fangio. Despite being a low depth chart Fangio had the defensive backs playing at a high level. During a lengthy point of the season, the defense was a top-five unit. That says a lot about Fangio and his trust in them to get the job done.

With the new faces on defenses like Ojemudia, it can be better. Ojemudia is a solid cornerback that comes from the Iowa program. Noah Fant had success as a rookie so why not jump back into that well again, but this time for a defense?

Ojemudia brings a solid foundation and core to his game. He is a tremendous zone corner that understands his responsibility in coverage. The other notable thing Ojemudia adds is he has ball skills to his repertoire. That type of aggressiveness can get him beat, but he is still pretty sound in technique.

On defense, Ojemudia looks to compete for the second corner role with De’Vante Bausby, Davontae Harris, and many others. It seems likely Ojemudia will be slated for that spot.

There are teams with multiple good wide receivers. Especially in this upcoming season, we will see how good Ojemudia can be for Denver. Teams like Kansas City, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans are rich with playmakers on offense. Therefore Ojemudia will need to show he is up to the task. Based on his awareness and intelligence Ojemudia has the tools to be successful.
