SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – Noah Fant set a rookie record for receptions by a tight end with the Broncos last season. /

There will be many mouths to feed in the Denver passing attack in 2020, but a guy who could consistently find himself open is Noah Fant.

The tight end will be entering his second year in the league and is coming off a season in which he caught 40 passes, far and away the most ever by a rookie tight end in Denver history. He did that with three different quarterbacks making starts.

In 2020, he will get to extend his on-field relationship with Drew Lock who could look for Fant as a safety net or as a guy who gets by the defense when it is too concerned with Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler on the field.

Fant is one of the league’s most athletic tight ends and as he showed on this 75-yard touchdown reception (video) against the Cleveland Browns last season. On the play, Fant bounced off a defender before showing the kind of speed that you just don’t see at the tight end position very often.

Lock will have a lot of weapons to distribute the football to in 2020 and Fant is a guy he played with last year. Because there are so many guys to get the football to, it may seem unrealistic that Fant catches 70-80 passes next season. But he doesn’t need to post massive statistics to have it be a breakout season.

If Fant can prove to be the mismatch nightmare that defenses can’t handle, then he will be exactly what the Broncos need. He could also be a serious threat in the red zone and could easily double the three touchdowns he scored last season.
