Dalton Risner

The Broncos have several questions along the offensive line heading into the 2020 season, but one of those questions is not at the guard spot occupied by Dalton Risner, one of last year’s second-round draft picks.

Risner earned a starting spot in Week 1 as a rookie and started every game of the season. He showed growth and consistency in each of those games and is one of the more promising players on the entire roster.

Risner allowed three sacks and was flagged for three penalties last season, according to Pro Football Focus, but those numbers aren’t terrible. He was a force in the rushing attack and for a rookie, played well beyond his years.

In pass protection, Risner held up quite well and as a pulling guard, he was fantastic. There is no doubt that the Broncos will turn to him to open big holes for Phillip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon this coming season.

The Broncos need an offensive lineman that they can count on and know is going to be ready to play and play well on a weekly basis. Because Graham Glasgow is new to the team and both tackle positions are shaky at best, Risner is the best bet to be that guy.

Look for Risner to have another good year in Denver and go from being a guy Broncos fans love (it doesn’t hurt that he’s a local product) to being a guard that fans of other teams around the league gain respect for.
