Wes Welker

Wes Welker was such a fun player to watch while he was on the Broncos. To be a slot receiver at 5’9”, 185 pounds is gutsy. You are always at risk of being lit up by linebackers or safeties while going over the middle of the field. It takes a lot of heart to do something like that.

Welker had five separate seasons with at least 1,100 yards (all with the Patriots) but with the Broncos did not have more than 780 in a single season. He did however have 10 touchdown receptions during the team’s magical 2013 campaign.

Unfortunately, the Broncos lost in a blowout during Super Bowl XLVIII. He had eight catches for 84 yards in that game.

I just respected Welker’s toughness on the field and even though he is a former New England Patriot, I wish that he would have been able to be a part of a Super Bowl-winning Broncos team. If only he was on the team a year longer than he was.

As crazy as it sounds with the number of years he played in New England, Welker never won a Super Bowl in his NFL career.
