Denver Broncos: 4 veterans who will enter training camp squarely on roster bubble
DeMarcus Walker
DeMarcus Walker is another obvious choice and he may be closer to having his roster bubble burst than any player on this list.
Drafted in the second round in 2017, Walker has failed to ever become a key part of the Broncos’ defense. Though he racked up 27 sacks in college at Florida State, he has managed to register just six at the professional level.
With the additions of Jurrell Casey, Christian Covington and McTelvin Agim this offseason, Walker’s chances of being kept around in 2020 have gotten much slimmer. The team also still has Shelby Harris and Dre’Mont Jones, two players who will be ahead of Walker on the depth chart.
Walker will have to show something this summer. He is clearly nothing more than a situational pass-rusher who will only see a handful of snaps per game, but teams can always use those.
The addition of Agim is the one that is most troubling for Walker and his chances to stick around. Agim is a player the Broncos are likely much higher on at this point and one that should get plenty of chances to perform even as a rookie.
He could easily absorb Walker’s role and perhaps more and at this point, it’s hard to imagine him making the team this coming season.
