Denver Broncos: Bold predictions for 2020 rookie class
LeVante Bellamy makes the team
The Broncos have a strong tradition of undrafted players making the roster and that will be the case this year as at least one of them will make the squad.
LeVante Bellamy is an exciting player who had all the skills to be drafted as part of the seven-round draft process, but the Broncos were quick to jump on him when he went undrafted. In my undrafted rookie spotlight, I gave him the best chance of any undrafted player to make the roster.
Remember, teams are able to keep 55 players on the roster starting in 2020 and that is only going to help some of these undrafted guys continue their careers. Bellamy is a weapon that could help the Broncos in multiple areas, including as a receiver and in the return game.
It’s possible that the Broncos envision using Bellamy in the role that Theo Riddick was to have last season. Riddick was much more experienced, but the premise would be the same.
Despite being 5-foot-9 and under 200 pounds in college, Bellamy was a guy who put the ball in the end zone. He scored an amazing 23 touchdowns last season and once he tacks on a few pounds of muscle this offseason, could be a formidable option as a change-of-pace back for the Broncos.
The team has Melvin Gordon, Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman but even with that talented trio in place, there will still be room for Bellamy to make some plays.
That’s right, he’s not just going to make the team, he will have a small role in 2020. He will be one of the more intriguing players to watch this summer.
The Broncos have a talented rookie class and a few other undrafted free agents with a chance to make the team in 2020. Bold predictions could easily be made for Strnad, Ojemudia, Albert Okwuegbunam or even Tyrie Cleveland.
All of these players will be key pieces to the Broncos’ success this coming season.
