McTelvin Agim will register at least five sacks

The Broncos drafted some exciting defensive players such as Ojemudia and Strnad, but let’s not forget about third-round pick McTelvin Agim.

Because of the moves the Broncos made this offseason to upgrade the defensive line, including trading for Jurrell Casey and finding a way to bring back Shelby Harris, Agim won’t need to be a day one starter that sees a ton of snaps. Instead, he can ease into his role and develop as a professional.

Easing into that role should include putting him as part of some defensive sets purely as a disruptor and pass-rush specialist. Though Agim’s long-term role will still need to be carved out, one thing that he should be able to do right away is to be a situational pass rusher.

At Arkansas, he had 14.5 career sacks and his sack number went up in each of his four years at the school, culminating with five during his senior season. In 2020, he will match that number of five sacks.

The Broncos have a solid pass-rushing system that includes the likes of Von Miller and Bradley Chubb. The team still has Harris and the trio of Dre’Mont Jones, DeMarcus Walker and Jeremiah Attaochu. Those three players combined for 11 sacks a year ago.

But someone will have to replace the seven sacks that Derek Wolfe contributed last season. That will likely be a collective effort, but look for Agim to make a name for himself in year one.
