Find out who is CB2… and CB3.

Who will play opposite A.J. Bouye in the Broncos secondary? Vic Fangio and defensive coordinator Ed Donatell must not only identify who the 2nd corner will be, but who will play in the nickel. Nickel defenses are used over 60% of the time.

The Broncos will be facing the Chiefs with Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins and Mecole Hardman, the Raiders with Henry Ruggs, Tyrell Williams, and Hunter Renfrow, and the Chargers with Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and KJ Hill. To match up, the Broncos must have confidence in their top 3 cornerbacks.

Bryce Callahan is a player who followed Fangio from the Chicago Bears to the Denver Broncos with the hopes of solidifying the position but missed all of 2019 with an injury. The Broncos got uneven play from Issac Yiadom, Davontae Harris, and Duke Dawson. So, the team went out and selected Iowa corner Michael Ojemudia.

The team has plenty of talent but there must be a decision on which players to roll with, and work quickly to get the group to mesh. The secondary must work in unison to be effective in Fangio’s system and to do so, the Broncos must set their top 3 quickly and move forward.

If no one from the current roster steps up, look or the Broncos to look at the current crop of free-agent cornerbacks or pluck one who is released from a team after training camp cuts begin.
