McTelvin Agim, Defensive Tackle

With their last of three selections in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Arkansas Razorbacks defensive lineman McTelvin Agim.

Agim is raw in certain facets of his game right now, but he has a chance to be an impact player as a rookie and certainly down the road for the Broncos and Vic Fangio.

Agim is built like the prototypical three-technique defensive tackle, a player who can win with a combination of strength, leverage, and quickness. He showed at Arkansas that he’s capable of playing a variety of positions on the defensive line, but when the Broncos go into their nickel package, there will almost certainly be opportunities for Agim to get onto the field and rush the passer in his rookie season.

Even if his rookie opportunities are somewhat limited, Agim will factor into the Broncos’ rotation beyond 2021 as one of only three players under contract beyond this season on the defensive line (Jurrell Casey, Dre’Mont Jones).

Playing behind guys like Casey, Jones, Mike Purcell, and Shelby Harris could limit the amount of playing time Agim sees as a rookie, but you’re always just one injury or one hot streak away from getting your number called.

This is a guy who rushes the passer from the defensive interior with relentless effort and strength, and I think he’s going to be a stud for the Broncos along with fellow former third-round pick Dre’Mont Jones for a long time.
