Denver Broncos: Current, former players make PFF All-Decade 101 team
There have been some great players on the Denver Broncos over the last decade. Several of them made PFF’s 101 All-Decade team.
In early April, it was announced that Denver Broncos pass rusher Von Miller and cornerback Chris Harris Jr. made the NFL’s All-Decade team of the 2010s.
Both Miller and Harris Jr. can add another All-Decade accomplishment to their career achievements. Pro Football Focus announced its 101 All-Decade list, featuring Miller at No. 7 overall and Harris Jr. at No. 12 overall.
The two defenders arrived to Denver in 2011: Miller as the second-overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, and Harris Jr. as an undrafted free agent.
Both of these players deserve recognition. Miller eclipsed 100 career sacks in 2019 (he has 106 for his career total) and has been one of the most dominant pass rushers in his time in the league. He had just eight sacks in 2019, his second-lowest of his career. In 2013, he played in just nine games and recorded five sacks.
Harris Jr. had built a name for himself since entering the league. He has 518 career tackles and 20 interceptions. Harris Jr. has also returned four interceptions for touchdowns for the Broncos during his time with the team, before moving on in free agency to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Evan Mathis, G, 14 OVR. Mathis was signed by the Denver Broncos in 2015 and played left guard for the team, just for a single season. He allowed just three sacks that year, including zero in the playoffs.
Peyton Manning, QB (2012-2015), 18 OVR. Peyton Manning was one of the best quarterbacks, if not the best quarterback of his time. He broke record after record, including the magical 2013 season when he passed for over 50 touchdowns. He became the all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns by the end of his career
Aqib Talib, CB, (85th overall) DEN: 2014-2017. Aqib Talib was a fun cornerback to have on the Broncos. While it was just for four years, he really made his mark for the team. He had 11 interceptions, 183 tackles, and a sack during his time in Denver.
Jamaal Charles (86th overall), RB, DEN: 2017. Charles’ time in Denver was not too memorable. In his lone season with the Broncos, he played in 14 games, rushing 69 times for 296 yards and a touchdown. However, he had some memorable years with the Kansas City Chiefs. He finished his career with 7,596 rushing yards and 44 rushing touchdowns.
Emmanuel Sanders (87th overall), WR, DEN: 2014-2019. Emmanuel Sanders was a very tough wide receiver for the Broncos. He often jumped up from vicious hits while also making ridiculous catches. It was like nothing had even happened.
Sanders has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, before signing with the New Orleans Saints this offseason.
During his time in Denver, he recorded his only three 1,000-yard receiving seasons of his career. He had Manning throwing him the football in those years.
He is a player that I would have loved to see play longer in a Broncos uniform, but it was time for the Broncos to move on, trading him to the Bay Area.
Jurrell Casey (96th overall), DL, DEN: 2020–PRES. Jurrell Casey was a tremendous acquisition by the Broncos. He was acquired from the Tennessee Titans for a seventh-round draft pick.
Casey spent nine years in Tennessee, recording 493 tackles and 51 sacks.
Hopefully, he will be able to bring a lot of production to the Broncos while he is there.
Former Broncos players who made the list but did not play for the team during the decade include center Chris Myers and wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
