Denver Broncos: Predicting the team’s top six cornerbacks in 2020
CB4: De’Vante Bausby
The Broncos initially signed De’Vante Bausby as a flier out of the now-defunct AAF (Alliance of American Football), and he certainly made the most of his opportunity to get back into the NFL.
Bausby was making plays left and right for the Broncos throughout the preseason. After some early struggles from 2018 third-round pick Isaac Yiadom, Bausby stepped into the lineup and did a good job.
That success was short-lived, unfortunately, as Bausby suffered a season-ending spine injury in Los Angeles against the Chargers on some friendly fire by Alexander Johnson.
Prior to his injury, Bausby showed he has starter qualities at the cornerback position. He was re-signed by the Broncos for the 2020 season, so he obviously showed his health is not a concern at this particular point in time.
He also might be the fastest player at the cornerback position for the Broncos.
With Bausby’s length, quickness, and long speed, he’s an ideal outside corner in Vic Fangio’s scheme who breaks on the ball extremely well and has the speed and length to recover if he’s beat deep.
