Week 3 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This is probably the most intriguing game on the schedule, as I talked about prior to the release of the schedule. When the season ended and we found out which teams the Broncos would play in 2020, no one thought twice about the Bucs.

But Tom Brady kind of changes things.

Bringing in Brady put the Bucs at the top of the “intriguing” list in all of the NFL. Tampa Bay was competitive last season despite having so many turnovers committed by Jameis Winston and the general thought is that Brady, considered by many to be the best quarterback to ever play, is going to be much better than Winston.

Tampa also added Brady’s old friend Rob Gronkowski and along with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Tampa is going to be a handful for a lot of teams. The Broncos will be tested in this game, particularly in the secondary.

Without Chris Harris, will the secondary be good enough at this stage of the season to slow the Bucs and Brady down? Can the defense cover a tight end? Those will be perhaps the biggest factors in this game.

It’s good that the Broncos get this game at home. Though no Tampa Bay team has ever had Brady, the Buccaneers have only beaten the Broncos twice in their history with the last time coming in 1999.

The only time Tampa Bay ever beat the Broncos in Denver came on December 26, 1993. Craig Erickson was the quarterback.
