Denver Broncos Schedule: 5 most intriguing games on 2020 slate
Week 1 vs. Tennessee Titans
For the second year in a row, the Broncos will play the last game of Week 1 in the second half of a doubleheader on Monday Night Football. You’ll either be going into work very tired that next Tuesday morning or calling in “sick” if you’re planning to stay up to watch this one.
This year, the Broncos will host the final game of Week 1 and it is against a strong opponent.
The Titans became of the league’s most physically imposing teams toward the end of last season and that style, combined with good quarterback play from Ryan Tannehill, nearly took them to the Super Bowl. In fact, the Titans had a 10-point lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
The Titans will also be looking for a measure of revenge in this game, as they were shutout by the Broncos last season, 16-0.
The Broncos held Derrick Henry to 28 yards rushing on 15 carries in that game, an impressive feat considering teams had their hands full doing anything with him as the season wore on.
The Broncos have never faced the Titans in a season-opening game, though they did open both the 1966 and 1972 seasons against the Houston Oilers, the team that the Titans used to be.
This will be an intriguing game as it will be an early barometer to see how good the Broncos are, having to go against one of last year’s best teams. The Broncos may need more time to jell together and might not be as good as they will be toward the latter part of the season, much like last year’s Titans squad, but this will be a good early test for the team.
