OT Garett Bolles

The Broncos declined Bolles’ fifth-year option recently. He is going to test the open market in 2021. The reality is that Bolles likely won’t be a member of the Broncos past the 2020 season.

Keyword: likely.

Just because Bolles will see what type of deal he can get from another team, that doesn’t mean he 100 percent won’t be a member of the Broncos past 2020. It just means that he will have the option to sign with somebody else once this year is up.

Declining his option gives the team options in the end. If they wanted to, they could give him a short-term deal worth less and try to develop him more.

Bolles committed 17 penalties and gave up four sacks in 2019. He has been very penalty-prone since becoming a first-round pick by the team in 2017. But he did improve by the end of the 2019 season.

Bolles is going to need to show some more improvement with Mike Munchak if he wants to stay in Denver. If he doesn’t, his time on the Broncos roster will run out.
