The Denver Broncos have several players who will need to step up if they want to stay with the team beyond 2020. Here are some on both sides of the ball.

Every year in the NFL, teams make difficult decisions when making up their final rosters. The Broncos have some talented players on their roster, as well as some that still need time to grow.

Unfortunately, the NFL is a “what have you done for me lately” business. In some cases, NFL stands for “Not For Long”. Okay, I got that from former NFL head coach Jerry Glanville from back in the day.

Well, there have been some very consistent players and also some inconsistent players on the Broncos. Some players get more chances than others. Coaches sometimes believe that those players can be fixed with time and experience. Sometimes, however, teams are stuck with players who haven’t worked out, because of their contract situation.

Teams may also be hesitant of moving on from a player because of where said player was selected in the NFL draft. When it comes to the first round of the NFL draft, players selected within the first 32 picks are able to secure a fifth-year option from the team.

In the case of the Broncos, they decided to decline left tackle Garett Bolles’ option, making him a free agent in 2021.

Moving on to the list of players who will need to step up in 2020, we will begin with the Broncos’ left tackle.
