Broncos news: The Denver Broncos will no longer be playing their 2020 road game against the Atlanta Falcons in London amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

The Denver Broncos have not played in London since 2010, a streak that was supposed to end in 2020. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has given us yet another unfortunate piece of Broncos news with the announcement from the NFL that international games will not be played this season.

The Broncos’ London trip in 2020 was meant to be a road game against the Atlanta Falcons, but now, the Broncos and Falcons will play that game in Atlanta.

The last time the Broncos were in London was one of the final straws of the Josh McDaniels era in Denver. McDaniels, who came from the New England Patriots where they had already been accused of using video footage of teams as an illegal competitive advantage, apparently tried to pull the same stunt in Denver.

Shortly after that, McDaniels was fired by the Broncos and the team hired John Elway to run the front office with John Fox as head coach.

10 years later, the Broncos have a burgeoning international fan base, one that will be understandably devastated that the team won’t be coming to London in 2020.

The Broncos don’t have any immediate plans to replace their 2020 London contest with a 2021 trip overseas, though the team clearly has interest in playing in front of their fans across the pond.

The 2020 situation was ideal for Denver considering it was a road game being played at a neutral site, and potentially with a lot more Broncos fans in attendance than Falcons fans.

That competitive advantage is no more, and Denver is back to the drawing board campaigning to play in London in 2021 or beyond. Hopefully, the team will get over there at some point in the near future.
