Broncos news: Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler react to their first Broncos jerseys
Rookie wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler have dominated Broncos news over the last few days and reacted recently to their first pro jerseys.
There is plenty of Denver Broncos news to go around lately, not the least of which is the top two picks of the 2020 NFL Draft class getting their new orange and blue threads.
One of the great parts of the NFL Draft is when players fly out immediately to their new cities for a press conference where they would hold up their new jerseys and answer questions about their future.
The coronavirus has robbed these young players of that moment, at least for the time being, so everyone is having to improvise. The Broncos sent their newest playmakers their jerseys in the mail and had them unbox the threads for all to see.
This is awesome to see.
Jerry Jeudy
Jeudy gets the commemorative no. 1 jersey because he was the team’s first-round pick. He’s made it clear that he wants to wear the no. 10 when jerseys are officially assigned to players. It doesn’t get any more official than this.
Jeudy shared a picture of him rocking the orange and blue for the first time on his personal Instagram page.
KJ Hamler
This video is cool for a number of reasons, but the fact that this is the first jersey Hamler has with his name on the back is really special.
Unfortunately, he got the commemorative no. 20, which of course he will not be wearing this season. The no. 20 jersey in Denver is worn by cornerback Duke Dawson, but Hamler received this one because he was selected in the 2020 NFL Draft.
If I’m betting on it, I think Hamler will either select no. 13 for himself (currently available) or I think he will let the other players pick numbers until the start of the 2020 regular season and spend the whole offseason through August wearing his college number, no. 1.
There is really no major tie in Denver to the no. 13 jersey though, so Hamler could create his own legacy with it. Some feel like he should try to pry no. 11 away from Diontae Spencer, but I’m not sure that’s going to be happening.
The Broncos will hopefully be assigning rookie jersey numbers soon so we can start imagining exactly what these players will look like on Sundays.
