The Denver Broncos have long been rumored to be interested heavily in the wide receiver market and on day one the team landed a wideout.

The Broncos spent numerous hours with the top wide receivers at the NFL combine making it seem like Denver wanted a wide receiver opposite of Courtland Sutton on offense.

Jerry Jeudy, Ceedee Lamb and Henry Ruggs were the rumored players they could be interested in at pick 15. As soon as the months went, the talk became would Denver even be able to snag one of them with their pick.

This led to speculation of Denver trading up for Lamb, Jeudy, and Ruggs. All the dust was settled on draft night with the first-ever virtual draft.

With the 15th pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the  Broncos selected Jeudy, a wide receiver from Alabama.

Jeudy was widely considered to be the top wideout in the draft. His ability to separate and create opportunities for himself is a nightmare for the opposing defenders.

Jeudy’s route running is one of the first things people noticed about him since being a freshman in college. The first few steps by Jeudy will give defensive backs headaches because you have no idea where he will go initially.

The other incredible area of Jeudy’s game that gets added to his arsenal is speed. He ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at the combine.

However, when you turn the tape on his speed is massively underrated. We mentioned about his route running and release. The moment he is away from the defender Jeudy has enough movement to get past a defender with no glitches.

He is a sound football player that displays great body control with a feel for the game at a young age. This is rare for someone to enter the league that way. Jeudy is nowhere near a perfect prospect, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a player as gifted as Jeudy when he is on the football field.

One area Jeudy will need to work on is the hands. Overall he has terrific hands, but at times seems to deal with more concentration drops than anything.

Jeudy is a gym rat and I expect it to be a non-issue in his career. He will hit the JUGS machine and make every rep count. The Broncos are getting one of the hardest working players on the field.

Jeudy will make everyone around him better as a player. With Sutton emerging in year two, Jeudy will make Sutton a better route runner along with the coaching of Zach Azzani. Azzani has been one of the more impressive coaches on the staff that is getting the most out of every wide receiver.

The player comparisons have been all over the map with Jeudy. One comparison has some merit and that is Antonio Brown.

Brown was a wide receiver at Central Michigan when Azzani was a position coach there. Both players display nearly impeccable route running and hands are about the same. Brown may be more physical with the build, but Jeudy’s toughness has also been shown.

We do not know if Jeudy will become that type of player, but we do now that Denver will get an instant impact player for a young quarterback going into year two. Drafting Jeudy puts a smile on the face of Drew Lock entering year two.

Court is in session. A Supreme Court of wide receivers is in the building and it is Sutton and Jeudy.
