Netane Muti was selected by the Broncos with the 181st pick overall. His skillset got experts talking. This is what they said.
Fresno State offensive guard Netane Muti is a Denver Bronco, as John Elway used the 181st pick (6th round) to select him in the 2020 NFL draft. Muti is now the second offensive linemen added in the draft, joining center Lloyd Cushenberry III, who was also a pick with great value on the third round.
Muti is a big-bodied offensive lineman capable of bulldozing any defender he gets his hands to. Muti excelled as a run blocker and as a pass blocker. Finding a guy with an athletic profile like Muti’s on the 6th round usually comes with an asterisk, and in this case, is his inability to stay healthy.
Muti was not able to finish his 2018 season nor his 2019 season, in both cases because of an injury. In 2018, after playing just 84 snaps, Muti suffered an Achilles injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Muti was coming from an incredible season as a freshman, where he played almost 1000 snaps and did not give up a sack.
Muti’s 2019 was looking a little brighter. His Achilles injury was a thing of the past and it seemed that he was the same player the country saw in 2017. Unfortunately, Muti suffered a Lisfranc injury that put him to rest for the 2019 season after playing 239 snaps. Adding that Muti had already suffered another Achilles injury in 2016, his injury report certainly scared NFL scouts.
But, the Denver Broncos decided to take a chance on Muti. John Elway saw the incredible potential of Muti and capitalized on what can be one of the biggest bargains of the 2020 draft.
Taking a risk on a guy with this history will certainly get people talking. Let’s see what the experts are saying about Netane Muti.
In the sixth round, we’ve taken guard Netane Muti from Fresno St. A strong, powerful and tough player who did 44 reps at 225 at the combine. Netane is a powerful run blocker and a strong anchor vs bullrushers as well. pic.twitter.com/07ghxsvcXG

#Broncos G Netane Muti bench pressed 225 pounds 44 times at combine. Strength not an issue. "I think I was the best guard in this class. I feel like they got a steal. I can’t wait to be part of the family and help us win games." Injuries limited him to 19 games in career #Denver7

Broncos continue to clean up. Justin Strnad is a really good pick at the end of Round 5, and Netane Muti is a good value pick early in the 6th if he can ever stay healthy and keep developing

If Netane Muti stays on the field he coulda been a top 50 player in this draft. Moves people at freaking will.
