Denver Broncos draft includes offense, defense and leadership
The Denver Broncos stuck to their trend of adding leadership to the roster with the additions that they have made in the 2020 NFL Draft.
In the last couple of years, the Denver Broncos have made it a point to add players to their roster that demonstrate great leadership skills.
While the Denver Broncos had Von Miller on the team, it’s important to realize that they shouldn’t just stop there.
In 2018, they did that with Bradley Chubb as the fifth-overall pick. Then they continued with wide receiver Courtland Sutton in the second round of the same year.
The leadership adding did not stop there.
They followed the 2018 draft with the addition of undrafted local kid, running back Phillip Lindsay, who, in my opinion, has shown the most leadership. It’s leadership a team like this needs.
In 2019, the Denver Broncos added Noah Fant, Dalton Risner, and Drew Lock from the draft. With all of the off-field things that we’ve seen them do, it is clear that their leadership traits go beyond football—which ultimately is the more important thing if I’m being honest.
Risner reached out to one of the newest members of the Denver Broncos, and now offensive linemate, LSU center Lloyd Cushenberry, following the announcement that Cushenberry was drafted by the team.
2020 NFL Draft leadership additions
The addition of players with leadership qualities continued during the 2020 NFL Draft.
There are some awesome notes about the qualities of the Broncos’ draft class so far.
Lloyd Cushenberry was a team captain at LSU, and was even chosen to wear a jersey (#18) that was strictly for players who “best represents what it means to be an LSU football player – on and off the field.”
That is exactly what the Denver Broncos should add to their team.
"“When you go through tough years like we’ve been going through the last couple years, your locker room is very, very important. The influences that you have in your locker room when things are tough, you need those guys to … lead that locker room through the tough times and you’ll be able to get back on the winning way. I think we’ve suffered a little bit there. We haven’t had that leadership in the locker room that has been able to dig us out of this hole.”— General manager John Elway (via DenverBroncos.com)"
After a number of years following the team’s Super Bowl victory and then retirement of quarterback Peyton Manning, it’s time to move on and forget about the heartbreaks, the stomach aches, and negativity.
The Denver Broncos are changing. They’re getting younger, but they’re also getting smarter and more of a better atmosphere. This team is going to be very exciting to watch in the near future. It starts and continues, with the leadership.
