The Denver Broncos were rumored to be one of those teams to trade up for a wide receiver and instead had one fall in their lap.
John Elway and company have been very lucky to have the board fall as well as it has in the last few years. This, therefore, has made it a successful draft pick in the first round three years in a row.
The Denver Broncos were rumored to consider a trade up for a wide receiver. Instead, arguably the top prospect at his position — Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy — fell into the lap of the Broncos. The Broncos receive a player that will be an instant impact player day one alongside Courtland Sutton.
Jeudy joins an offense with the likes of quarterback Drew Lock, running backs Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay, tight end Noah Fant, and the Pro Bowler Sutton. Elway made it a point of emphasis to score points in the off-season and they have struck gold or should we say diamonds with their first selection. The addition of Jeudy gives Denver a player that can separate off the line of scrimmage with an impressive release. But he also runs a route tree that is about as impeccable as Mr. Clean.
Jeudy’s versatility gives the Broncos a player capable of playing inside the slot or on the outside on offense. Many experts were wondering if the Broncos would come away with a wide receiver. The question simply became who was their prime target. For well over a month it had been Henry Ruggs III (Jeudy’s Alabama Crimson Tide teammate), but that changed in the last handful of weeks leading up to the draft.
So what are the experts saying now? Let’s find out.
Feeling good about the @Broncos direction. Jerry Jeudy is just so good.

Elway goes Jerry Jeudy. He's the slot receiver the Cowboys need to replace Randall Cobb. But he's more of a No. 2 receiver, more of a luxury. CeeDee is a No. 1, a combination DeAndre Hopkins/Anquan Boldin.

A comp I've heard on Jerry Jeudy: Marvin Harrison.

Courtland Sutton
Noah Fant
Phillip Lindsay
Melvin Gordon
Drew Lock
It. Is. On.
The Broncos now have their young offensive core at the skilled positions. With the addition of Jerry Jeudy the average age of Drew Lock, Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant, Phillip Lindsay, & Melvin Gordon is 23.5 years old.

Jerry Jeudy should NOT have fallen to #15. But for the #Broncos that’s HUGE!! Jeudy is the best route runner in the draft!

Alabama HC Nick Saban on Jerry Jeudy: The way he comes out of a break is as good as anyone I've ever seen at the position. Some guys that can do that are not real fast, he fast. ...I don't know where this knee thing is coming from. He's never missed anything here b/c of a knee."

The Broncos got themselves a tremendous player in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Now, they will use day two of the draft to continue to surround Jeudy, Lock, Fant, Sutton, Lindsay, and Gordon with other players who can help this team compete with Kansas City into the future.
