Third round (two picks)

With their first of two third-round picks, I think the Broncos add a third potential rookie starter to the mix with Wyoming’s Logan Wilson.

A converted defensive back, Wilson is one of the best all-around linebacker prospects in this draft class with the ability to diagnose, react quickly, play downhill, fight through the muck of the trenches, and make big plays in coverage.

As a three-time captain at Wyoming and someone who grew up a Denver Broncos fan, he could be the 2020 version of Dalton Risner.

It’s really tough to gauge how teams are valuing Wilson right now, but he could be gone in the second round.

If he’s there at 77, the Broncos should pounce.

I am trying to will this one to happen.

With the 83rd overall pick, the selection acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers in last year’s trade down, the Broncos get one of the biggest steals of the class in Laviska Shenault Jr.

Since I started making 2020 mock draft scenarios, one of my favorite things to do has been to double up on wide receivers.

There are no shortage of combinations that would excite me, but getting the route running and inside-outside versatility from Jerry Jeudy in round one and the playmaking ability from Laviska Shenault — injury issues be darned at this point — in round three?

That would be awesome.

This would give the Broncos a top four group of receivers of:

Courtland Sutton
Jerry Jeudy
DaeSean Hamilton
Laviska Shenault

And obviously Noah Fant at tight end with young Juwann Winfree also adding depth and Diontae Spencer, Tim Patrick, and others providing back-end depth and special teams abilities.
