The Broncos have made Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy their1st pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. What kind of player is he and what does he bring to the team? Let’s take a look.

After months of anticipation, the 2020 NFL Draft is finally here! The Broncos selected Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy with their 1st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The biggest debate leading up to the draft was which wide receiver the Broncos were going to take. Would it be one of the Alabama tandem of Jerry Jeudy/Henry Ruggs? Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb? Well, Broncos Country finally has its answer.

Scouting report (per NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein)

"Mixes tight, crisp route-running with impressive top-end speed to keep secondaries on eggshells throughout the game. Jeudy is high-cut and a little leggy in his press release and short-area movements, but fluid hips and above-average agility prevent any stagnation. He’s a linear route specialist with a great feel for leveraging and then stemming defenders away from his food on intermediate and deep passes. Lance Zierlein"

How he fits

Jeudy immediately becomes the outside compliment to Courtland Sutton. His speed and precise route running should make him an immediate target for Drew Lock and add more firepower to this young Bronco offense.

Another thing this does for the Broncos is gives the team a potential tandem at receiver for the next 4-5 years. Yes, that’s assuming Sutton gets an extension during that time (which I think he will).

This gives the Broncos the ability to have two dynamic wide receivers together for many years without having to pay top dollar to both. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Jeudy’s game, here’s a quick snippet of what he can do.

Summary

This was a great pick for the Broncos. Not only does he fill an immediate need, he came at great value to Denver. He was a top 10 talent that felt into their lap at 15. He’s a polished player that should immediately boost the productivity of the Broncos offense.

Considering the circumstances, the team couldn’t have asked for a better player to fall to them.  Broncos country should be excited that Jerry Jeudy is coming to the Mile High City. After years of inconsistency and stagnant play on offense, the Broncos are doing everything in their power to have a resurgence on that side of the ball.
