Denver Broncos: Jeffrey Okudah and other top trade-up targets in 2020
5. CJ Henderson, CB, Florida
I’ll give you one more wild card to keep an eye on — Florida’s CJ Henderson.
Aside from Jeffrey Okudah, Henderson is the best cover corner in the draft.
His tackling issues are certainly well-publicized at this point, but Henderson was a good enough tackler to be used on blitzes at a high rate for Florida, and I think you could coach him up on that aspect of his game.
The factor to focus on is that this guy is capable of shutting down his side of the field. He has the athletic traits and size to hang with really any receiver in the NFL, and with the Broncos going up against the Kansas City Chiefs two, potentially three times a year, a player of Henderson’s athletic makeup is certainly a need.
I’m not saying the Broncos will trade up for him, but it’s not impossible if they think cornerback is that critical of a need for this team right now.
Henderson’s 2018 tape is more highly regarded than his 2019 tape, but he still did a number on LSU, allowing just two receptions to Ja’Marr Chase, the best receiver in college football.
This guy is considered a lock for the top 10 picks at this point and if that’s the case, the Broncos would have to jump up to get him if they are prioritizing cornerback.
