Wide receiver Henry Ruggs III said that the Denver Broncos are among the teams who have been contacting him the most leading up to the NFL Draft.

Among the things that draft prospects entering the NFL are allowed to do is tell people if they have talked to certain teams. Agree with it or not, that’s just how it goes. That just so happened with one of the top receivers in this year’s class, Henry Ruggs III.

Ruggs told ProFootballTalk that he has been in “constant” communication with several teams, including the Denver Broncos.

This is by no means a surprise, as Ruggs would be a great asset to the Broncos and add a lot of speed. Giving Drew Lock a weapon such as Ruggs could eventually be compared to the Patrick Mahomes/Tyreek Hill combo going on in Kansas City.

The Broncos would be happy to take any of the top receivers in this draft and it isn’t quite clear who their favorite is, despite popular beliefs. There’s just so much smoke in the air. We really will not know what transpires until the Broncos are on the clock.

There was also recently a rumor that the Broncos were interested in another receiver prospect—Jerry Jeudy.

The team’s interest in wide receivers is basically the worst-kept secret out there in the NFL at this time. It is entirely possible that somebody who is behind the Broncos in the draft order takes note of this and trades up before their selection to take the guy the Broncos want.

At this point, drafting a receiver in the middle of—or even trading up in—the first round seems inevitable for the Broncos. They’re going to take one of the top three if they are still on the board.

Now it’s just a matter of who rather than if. Unless something drastic happens before the Broncos get a chance, it’s incredibly likely that one of those receivers will be heading to the Mile High City.
