Fifth Overall (Lions via Dolphins) – Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio State

The Lions made a deal with the Dolphins and picked up an extra 2nd rounder (39th overall) to move down two spots. The Dolphins got their guy in Tua Tagovailoa. The Lions still get their guy in Jeffrey Okudah.

Derrick Brown, defensive tackle, from Auburn was also considered here. The Lions could use a playmaker on their defensive line but Matt Patricia comes from New England. There, the focus tends to be on solidifying their linebackers and secondary first. The Patriot way makes its way to the Motor City.

Darius Slay was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles and there is a gaping hole at cornerback for the Lions. He is arguably the best corner in this draft and has the speed, swagger, and ball skills that Matt Patricia will love.

At 6 foot 1 and 205 pounds, he can match up well against Adam Thielen (6-2, 200), Davante Adams (6-1, 215), and Allen Robinson (6-2, 220) in the division. The Packers and Vikings are most likely going to pick up a WR during the draft and Detroit will have the flexibility to match up with those wideouts with both of their newly acquired corners in Desmond Trufant (Free Agency) and Okudah.
