It is a pretty common consensus that the first two draft selections have been set in stone, barring something crazy: QB Joe Burrow to the Cincinnati Bengals, followed by edge rusher Chase Young to the Washington Redskins.

While I considered going a little crazy with it and channeling my inner Dan Snyder and selecting QB Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama, but I’m not overly confident that they will bite the bullet and go quarterback this year, having just taken Dwayne Haskins in 2019. It is also worth noting that the Redskins still have veteran Alex Smith on the roster.

Although he intends to play football, the likelihood is in question following Alex Smith’s horrifying Joe Theismann-esque lower leg injury in 2018 that led to severe complications, nearly resulting in amputation. At nearly 36 years old, Smith is not the safest bet. Haskins will likely be their QB1 this year and may even go after Trevor Lawrence in 2021 if they don’t feel confident in Haskins following 2020.

However, Chase Young is the safest pick for the Redskins. He is arguably the best player in the draft in 2020 and has tremendous upside. He will immediately make their defense better, and with the addition of Young, will actually have a pretty nasty pass rush in 2020.
