The Broncos were hoping that one of the top wide receivers fell to them, choosing not to trade up to attempt to get one of them. CeeDee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy, and Henry Ruggs were all off the board. Ruggs went to the Raiders and realizing that they would be going up against him and Tyreek Hill a total of four times a year, the Broncos found new motivation to add to the secondary.

Behind Jeff Okudah, C.J. Henderson is the best cover corner in this draft and a guy that makes a lot of sense in this spot with the way the board fell.

Andrew Thomas was available, but the Broncos chose to find a solid counterpart for A.J. Bouye, allowing them to be flexible with a (hopefully) healthy Bryce Callahan.

If you’re looking for a complete cornerback in terms of one that will lower his helmet and contribute in run support, that is a glaring weakness for Henderson. But man coverage, ball tracking, and nice length make him a player that will be highly-coveted.
