2020 NFL Draft: Broncos go defense in final first-round mock draft
By Tylor Walden
9th Overall (Jaguars) – Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
Pick made by Ty Walden – Contributor
While the Jacksonville Jaguars could have built the defense with their first of two first-round picks, there has been some buzz that they could look to build on offense to potentially get ready for a Gardner Minshew where he brings the Jaguars to the playoffs. Or perhaps they wait a year and get a quarterback next season that will pair with this selection.
Either way, the Jaguars throw a wrench in a few plans. What the Jaguars get in Jeudy is a player who can pair well with D.J. Chark and provide a duo at the wide receiver position that could put Gardner Minshew in a good spot. While Jacksonville still has some holes to cover in other areas, this would be a step in the right direction.
Perhaps a wide receiver here would make sense, especially since the Jaguars have released Marqise Lee.
If the Jaguars are unable to be successful in 2020, having Trevor Lawrence to be the quarterback to throw to Jeudy and Chark would be ideal. It would truly be a best-case scenario. So, this pick could make sense for the future of the franchise. Get a second wideout to compliment Chark and then get the quarterback next year. Certainly, not the craziest thing heard in my opinion.
