Mike Purcell recently signed his restricted free agent tender and was terrific against the run last season, so he is a guy the Broncos likely want to give as many snaps to as possible, but if they’re to draft South Carolina’s Javon Kinlaw, a popular pick in mock drafts for the Broncos, things would change.

The Broncos did a good job to come away with a formidable defensive line this offseason despite entering the offseason with Derek Wolfe, Shelby Harris and Adam Gotsis all as unrestricted free agents.

The Broncos were able to keep Harris on a one-year deal after he failed to find the long-term deal he was looking for. They also traded for Jurrell Casey in one of the best moves any team made this offseason, giving up only a seventh-round pick to get him.

But if the team could add a name like Kinlaw to put with Harris and Casey, the defensive line would go from a big question mark after last season to one of the biggest strengths entering the 2020 season.

Being as good as he was against the run last season, the Broncos would likely still keep on the field as much as possible, but a more athletic player who could offer more from a pass-rushing perspective could easily supplant him as a starter.
