Ezra Cleveland, OT, Boise State

Many Broncos fans don’t seem to like the idea of drafting an offensive tackle in the first round, but Ezra Cleveland could be a great option in round two, though it could take a little luck for him to still be on the board by the No. 46 pick.

He’s not a perfect prospect, but since a strong showing at the combine, he has been climbing draft boards. He will need to develop more functional strength to succeed as a professional, but in certain schemes, teams can take advantage of his range and ability to move quickly.

The Broncos could be one of those teams.

Cleveland offers the potential to play either tackle spot and though the Broncos look better at the tackle spot than some seem to believe, both Garett Bolles and Ja’Wuan James are shaky starters.

Cleveland could come in and develop under offensive line coach Mike Munchak and be groomed as a potential replacement for one of those players if Bolles’ struggles continue or if James can’t stay healthy, two good possibilities.

At 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Cleveland has incredible athleticism that includes a background in wrestling to make him a solid offensive lineman in the NFL. He just has to find a way to make sure that the guys coming off the edge with their freakish power aren’t just going to walk him back into the quarterback.

He is an intriguing prospect for sure.
