There are teams ahead of the Jaguars that could use a wide receiver, such as the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants, but those teams seem to have bigger holes at more important positions, such as quarterback and offensive tackle.

Though a wide receiver could go before the No. 9 pick, this is the ideal spot for the first wide receiver to come off the board.

The Jaguars had D.J. Chark step up in a big way last season, but there isn’t a major threat behind him. Both Dede Westbrook and Chris Conley can be serviceable options but adding one of the tremendous talents in this draft could work wonders for second-year quarterback Gardner Minshew.

The Jaguars have not had a prime receiving threat since probably Justin Blackmon, and bad decisions ran him out of the league. There are hopes that Chark can be that guy, but he could just as easily be a one-hit wonder.

The Jaguars are certainly a player to take the first receiver next Thursday and that player could also be the top name on the Broncos’ board. If the Jaguars take a wide receiver, with the teams that are still between them and the Broncos, the Broncos could easily miss out on one of the top three names.

This will be a key pick to keep an eye on.
