Denver Broncos: Top non-WR options with 15th pick
4. One of the top linebackers
Another option for the Broncos with the 15th overall pick would be to stay put and take a top inside linebacker.
The Broncos were this close to taking Michigan linebacker Devin Bush with the 10th overall pick in last year’s draft before the Pittsburgh Steelers made them an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Would the Broncos be willing to take someone at pick 15 at that position again this year?
It’s possible.
LSU’s Patrick Queen is the top linebacker in this draft besides Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons in terms of his all-around ability.
Queen’s rise to prominence in the College Football Playoff was merely an exclamation point on an otherwise fantastic season out of Devin White’s shadow.
Although he’s not quite the prospect White was last year, Queen is an ideal modern NFL type of three-down linebacker. He plays extremely fast, physical, and he can match speed with receivers and tight ends in coverage.
Oklahoma’s Kenneth Murray is another option for the Broncos, although he’s somewhat similar to Alexander Johnson in terms of his game.
Murray is an excellent pass rusher from the off-ball linebacker position, and is probably best attacking the line of scrimmage rather than dropping into coverage, though he certainly has the speed and elite athletic ability to play in coverage.
