2. One of the top offensive tackles

If the Broncos choose not to go with a wide receiver in the first round, one of the better options they could pursue is a top four offensive tackle.

The top four tackles in this class, in whatever order you prefer, are Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs, Georgia’s Andrew Thomas, Alabama’s Jedrick Wills, and Louisville’s Mekhi Becton.

Wirfs has long been thought to be an ideal target for the Broncos for a number of reasons. First and foremost, he has positional flexibility having played both right and left tackle at Iowa, and many project he could be a great guard in the pros as well.

Thomas, the best pure left tackle in this draft class, would also be a good pick at 15 overall, even though I personally am not the biggest fan of taking a left tackle in round one at this particular point in time. Thomas also played right tackle as a freshman with the Bulldogs, so he could play either spot.

Jedrick Wills has been strictly a right tackle for Alabama, but a very good one and he will be a tremendous pro on either side.

Mekhi Becton’s issues with his weight fluctuating over the past few years are cause for concern about his ability to play a career in the altitude of Denver, but his physical and athletic makeup is enticing.

If the Broncos determined from their postseason film study that Garett Bolles is a lost cause, picking a left tackle at 15 overall goes from an insurance policy to an absolute immediate necessity.
