The Denver Broncos are seeking more athleticism at the linebacker position, and one player who fits what the team needs in a variety of ways is former Oregon Ducks star Troy Dye.

Dye’s father played college ball at San Jose State and his brother, Tony Dye, was a former undrafted free agent of the Cincinnati Bengals out of UCLA who once scooped up a blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown in his only regular season action.

Troy Dye figures to have a very long career after four years of productivity at Oregon, and that could very well be in Denver. Dye was brought up in the Ducks program by Jim Leavitt, a former colleague of Vic Fangio’s with the 49ers. Predominantly Orange writer and Locked on Broncos host Cody Roark recently had the chance to chat with Leavitt.

Dye is an athletic linebacker with experience in coverage and plenty of value otherwise on third down as a blitzer. He is instinctive and plays with a fearless mentality at the position.
