Jeremy Chinn would be a fascinating second-round pick for the Denver Broncos if they were able to land him, not only because he’s one of the freakiest athletes in the 2020 NFL Draft, but because he is the nephew of Hall of Fame Broncos safety Steve Atwater.

Why would the Broncos use a second-round pick or a high pick in general on a safety after franchise tagging Justin Simmons and signing Kareem Jackson last offseason?

There are a few reasons.

First and foremost, Chinn is a rare type of athlete at 6-foot-3, 219 pounds with blazing speed, extraordinary leaping ability, and outstanding production with Southern Illinois.

Even though he didn’t play in the SEC or Big Ten, Chinn showed outstanding man coverage abilities on his college tape as well as very good tackling ability. He could be used as a weapon on third downs by the Broncos immediately and give Vic Fangio a hybrid type of player who would represent a consolation of sorts to Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons.

His stock has risen rapidly over the past couple of months.
