Denver Broncos: Three positions competing for top 2020 NFL Draft need
4. Offensive Tackle
Finally, here it is.
The Broncos could very well take an offensive tackle in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
They also might not take one until the third or fourth round.
Denver’s tackle situation is a bit muddy from the outside looking in. Garett Bolles is entering the last year of his rookie deal and no one knows how confident the Broncos really are in him after three rocky seasons to start off his career in the NFL.
Ja’Wuan James was brought in to be a source of stability at right tackle, but missed almost the entire 2019 season with a knee injury.
What are the Broncos going to do if either Bolles or James miss more time?
Some people want to spend a round one pick just to replace Bolles. Some want a round one tackle just in case. Everyone wants a tackle at some point early on to be able to play competent football in case Bolles struggles, James is injured, or both.
The Broncos don’t have great depth at tackle, so taking one by the end of round three is a virtual necessity.
Luckily for the Broncos, there are a variety of players in this draft available in each round who should be able to help the team out if they need someone to start in 2020 or if they want to wait until 2021.
