2. Cornerback

This will probably drive the people who want a Garett Bolles replacement nuts, but if you have been reading Predominantly Orange for longer than a week, you would know that I’m not big on offensive tackle being a huge need for this team.

The Broncos could be a darkhorse team in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft to take Florida Gators star cornerback CJ Henderson with everyone and their dog thinking John Elway is taking a wide receiver.

Henderson is the clear CB2 in this draft class, a player with elite man coverage abilities and one of the most productive blitzing corners in the class.

Henderson played through injury in 2019 and has been dinged for his participation in run support accordingly, but he’s a really good player and a three-year starter.

Aside from Henderson, this cornerback class has some really interesting players all over the projected top 100 picks, and the Broncos will likely take one with one of their top three selections.

Why?

Bryce Callahan is coming off of a foot injury, and his health situation is unpredictable at best. AJ Bouye is coming over after a down year with Jacksonville. The Broncos’ third cornerback position will be a battle between De’Vante Bausby, Isaac Yiadom, Duke Dawson, and Davontae Harris at this point. All of those players started at one point or another for Denver last year, so the Broncos’ faith in them cannot be underestimated here, either.

But Denver is in the market for a CB1 that can lead this team into the future. Right now, it’s AJ Bouye, who is under contract for just two more seasons. The Broncos will want a more long-term solution and they could find it near the top of this draft class.
