Darqueze Dennard, cornerback

A first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Darqueze Dennard became a very strong slot cornerback for the Cincinnati Bengals.

He hasn’t picked off a pass since 2017, but he’s also been quite stingy in coverage, allowing just 48.6 percent of passes thrown into his area to be completed.

When the Broncos lost Chris Harris Jr. in free agency, they also lost one of the best slot corners to ever do it.

Not that Dennard could totally replace him, but there are few candidates out there who could. Dennard could undoubtedly do a good job, however, and at just 28 years of age, he could probably do it for a few seasons.

He had previously agreed to a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the two sides couldn’t agree on the final language of the deal so Dennard hit the free agent market again.

Time will tell if he made the right call.
