Wes Welker, slot receiver

The Denver Broncos have a need at slot receiver and one of the most reliable players at the position is former Broncos receiver Wes Welker.

Welker played just two seasons with the Denver Broncos, but they were two very productive years. He caught 122-of-165 targets for 1,242 yards and twelve touchdowns in 27 games for the Broncos.

Welker was not the fastest receiver (4.65 40-yard dash), but he was sneaky. Standing at just 5’9”, 185 pounds, it would have been easy to look past him.

The Broncos are looking for a guy to play the slot receiver position, as well as No. 2 alongside starting No. 1 guy Courtland Sutton.

It was a fun two seasons watching Peyton Manning throw passes to Welker. The amount of times Welker was able to get open (by NFL standards) is nuts.

Imagine that version of Welker filling in at slot receiver for the 2020 Denver Broncos. It fills a big need and would give Drew Lock a very reliable target in the middle of the field.

If only that would happen. It would be so much fun.
