Starters: Alexander Johnson, Todd Davis

What a difference a season makes. Last year at this time, Alexander Johnson was a fringe guy to even make the 53-man roster. Now he is being discussed with the key guys on the team.

Johnson comes into the 2020 season rejuvenated and with plenty of promise in front of him. He has gained the confidence of his teammates after putting together a solid, if even a little surprising, 2019 year.

Todd Davis was among the league leaders in tackles last season and can always help out in that regard and attacking ball carriers, but he struggles in pass coverage and that is where the team could stand to improve.

May I suggest Oklahoma’s Kenneth Murray in the first round, as I did in this mock draft? Sure, Davis has been good, but Murray would be decidedly better.

The Broncos don’t have a ton of depth at this position. Josey Jewell will still look to make an impact where he can but aside from him, it’s just Joe Jones, a special teams guy and Josh Watson, an undrafted free agent last season.

The Broncos must absolutely draft an inside linebacker that fits Fangio’s style in this draft and the earlier, the better.
