Starters: Shelby Harris, Mike Purcell, Jurrell Casey

The Broncos lost Derek Wolfe to free agency and chose to move on from Adam Gotsis. The team was also set to lose Shelby Harris, but he couldn’t find the big payday he was looking for and decided to come back to the team.

That move combined with the trade to acquire Jurrell Casey were huge for the team. The Broncos looked to have a weak defensive front entering the free-agent signing period and the team lost out on free agents such as D.J. Reader and Jarran Reed, but ended up making up for it in the end.

Mike Purcell is a Fangio kind of guy. He is stout against the run but wants to prove he is an every-down player by being able to stay on the field on passing downs.

The Broncos have decent depth with Dre’Mont Jones and DeMarcus Walker, who had a nice bounce-back year, but the team should look to draft a guy at this position in the third or fourth round of the draft to provide another option.

Still, having lost a veteran in Wolfe, the Broncos found a big upgrade in Casey and found a way to get Harris back. If the team goes into Week 1 with these three guys as the starters, fans should feel pretty good about that.
