The Denver Broncos know how important a strong defense is in winning a championship.

The Broncos won Super Bowl 50 on the strength of a superb defense and though the offense has become stagnant in recent years, the defense has still held its own. Head coach Vic Fangio knows how important defense is as well, as he has spent decades in the league coaching it.

The Broncos have made strides on offense and hope that the unit as a whole can be more explosive this season, but the strength of the team is still going to be an aggressive defense predicated on not just limiting opponents, but completely shutting them down.

So how does the defense look as of right now?

This is a good time to look at the current starters on the defensive side of the ball and determine how things would look if the season began today. Of course, the season doesn’t start today and in just a touch over two weeks, the 2020 NFL draft will commence.

Where does the team have noticeable holes? Where can an improvement be made? This is what we will look for here and in doing so, we might be able to decipher the areas the Broncos could attack in the draft.

If you missed the offensive version of this idea, you can find it here.

Now, we will break down each position group on the defensive side of the ball and lay out each of the team’s 11 starters as the roster currently sits.
