Denver Broncos: Full 7-round mock draft with trades
If you’ve never heard the name Oluwole Betiku so far, don’t feel bad. But when he was a high school star getting ready for the next level, it appeared he was set for stardom.
The former five-star recruit went to USC and was hyped up big time. But he fizzled out quickly.
After undergoing hip surgery and sitting out the 2018 season, he transferred to Illinois in 2019 and played quite well for the Illini, registering nine sacks and 13 tackles for loss.
Though he didn’t redeem himself completely for the poor college career, he finished well and created some good tape. He is a true boom or bust prospect, but down this far in the selection process, he’s worth a shot.
With only a few picks left in the draft, the Broncos find a versatile offensive lineman with experience at every position on the line. He projects best as a guard at the next level but could offer an additional option at center.
Murphy faced a lower level of competition playing at Rhode Island but he has a great work ethic and possesses many traits that will land him on an NFL roster.
He has quick feet, good hand usage and above-average athleticism. He is the third offensive lineman selected by the team in this draft, so fans have to be happy about that, right?
Anderson never posted huge numbers at TCU, but he did average 5.6 yards per carry throughout his college career.
The Broncos don’t necessarily need another running back with Gordon, Lindsay and Royce Freeman on the roster already, but with the only other running back on the team being Khalfani Muhammad, the team needs another guy to carry the ball in the preseason and fight for a spot on the practice squad, if nothing else.
Anderson has good NFL size at 5-foot-10 and about 208 pounds, but he needs to be more decisive when he has the ball. He has enough ability to make plays and is the kind of back who could push the team to keep four running backs on the roster.
