Denver Broncos: Full 7-round mock draft with trades
With their third pick in the third round, the Broncos grab Baylor’s James Lynch to place on what is suddenly a terrific defensive line.
Heading into the offseason, it seemed as though the defensive line spot would be the weakest area on the roster, but after trading for Jurrell Casey and bringing back Shelby Harris, the Broncos have some great pieces to work with.
Mike Purcell is still around to be the run stuffer that he is and Dre’Mont Jones is a second-year player to be excited about.
James Lynch was the Defensive Player of the Year in the Big 12 Conference this past season after registering 13.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss. He also forced three fumbles, recovering two of them.
Lynch is a disruptive force who can move around on the defensive line and give the team a flexible option in certain sets. Early in his career, he offers a rotational role on defense but he certainly has the ability to be an eventual starter.
If the Broncos could land a player such as Lynch in this spot or earlier in the draft process, the defensive line would be set for the upcoming season.
