DE Jarvis Moss – Drafted in 2007 (First Round, 17th Overall)

Denver has been successful in recent history regarding drafting defensive players. Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, and Justin Simmons are just some to name off. But Denver had a big time swing and a miss on this first round draft pick in 2007.

Jarvis Moss was coming off a big year in Florida and had won the National Championship. In fact, Denver traded up with Jacksonville to select the defensive end. He was successful in his first two seasons, recording 3.5 sacks as a defensive end.

However, when Josh McDaniels took over, new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan decided to switch Moss from defensive end to outside linebacker. The move ended up hurting more than helping Moss. Injuries did not help the cause as he only saw action in 16 more games as a Bronco before being released in one of the final moves of the Josh McDaniels era.

It makes you wonder if the move in position was the reason for his decline? Either way, it was a move that worked initially, but turned out to derail as his career went on.
