In this mock draft scenario, I traded back to the 28th overall pick with the Baltimore Ravens and picked up a 2nd-round pick and 2020 4th-round pick, but the Broncos could also just as easily get a haul similar to the one they got in 2019 when they moved from 10 to 20, picking up a future 3rd-round pick.

Denzel Mims would be one of the more ideal targets in a trade down scenario. He has tremendous athleticism, size, and speed.

Watching him play, it’s hard not to fall in love.

Mims is excellent at high-pointing the football and plays with fantastic effort at all times.

He’s very good in the running game as a blocker and has the type of vertical speed to really challenge defenses deep downfield on the opposite side of the field from Courtland Sutton.

With Mims in the fold, the Broncos would force teams to respect the downfield passing game because they would not be able to just double cover Courtland Sutton every play.

Putting Mims out on the field with Sutton and last year’s first-round pick Noah Fant would give the Broncos a dynamic trio of receivers who can do a little bit of everything.

Mims may not be able to run as diverse of a route tree as someone like Jerry Jeudy or Henry Ruggs, but he’s got the athletic skills the Broncos currently need at the receiver position and picking up extra picks along the way gives the team flexibility to make moves on day two.
